Why we created Expat Pal

Our first year in Portugal was a wonderful train wreck. Even with the help of an attorney and a professional relocation specialist, we had to overcome many challenges, and there were important details missing from our welcome. As North American natives, there were a million little things that added up to one tremendous weight.

The internet will tell you to get a relocation specialist. Common sense tells you to hire an attorney. Life experience says that you will really need a trusted friend. We created Expat Pal to be that friend — the one you need at a moment’s notice to translate, to navigate, and to help.

Our team

Our Pals migrated from 19 countries across 5 continents and speak over a dozen languages. We hold certifications in technology, accounting, translation, tourism, construction, law, security and housekeeping. We know first-hand how challenging it is to relocate or plan a holiday abroad — that is why this exists.
